Getting started

Your first step beyond.

A straightforward guide from a fresh install to your first connection.

  1. Choose your launcher

Install CurseForge or a compatible launcher that can import a CurseForge modpack. Sign in with a Minecraft account that owns Java Edition.

Use the launcher’s official distribution and let it manage the pack’s mod loader.

  2. Install Mythforge

Open the official pack listing, choose the version required by the server, and install it into a fresh profile.

    Open the modpack download
  3. Install the required anticheat companion

Our launch server requires Fiw AntiCheat for NeoForge 1.21.1, version 2.1.0. Add it to your client instance unless a newer Mythforge release already includes it. The currently published 1.2.4 pack needs this separate addition. Anti-xray is disabled so legitimate pack abilities remain available.

Download Fiw AntiCheat by Fi3w0 from its official listing and follow Discord announcements before connecting.

  4. Set your memory allocation

Recommended allocated client RAM: 9-10 GB.

In your launcher’s profile or Minecraft settings, adjust the memory allocation. Leave enough RAM for your operating system and other programs; allocating all available memory can cause launch failures.

  5. Launch the pack once

Start Mythforge and let the initial setup finish. Use Java 21 for Minecraft 1.21.1; a supported launcher can usually manage this runtime for you.

Wait until the main menu loads before connecting.

When the journey stalls

A few things to check.

Wrong modpack version

Compare your installed profile version with the server’s required version. Install the matching release into a separate profile rather than manually mixing mod files. Back up local worlds before updates.

Java or launch errors

Use Java 21 and confirm that your launcher is using a 64-bit runtime. Remove custom JVM arguments you do not understand and retry with the launcher’s defaults. Keep the crash report if the problem continues.

Connection errors

Double-check Server coming soon!, your internet connection, and the pack version. Restart Minecraft. If other players are also unable to connect, check maintenance announcements.

Insufficient RAM or native memory allocation errors

Close memory-heavy applications and check the launcher’s allocation. More allocated RAM is not always better: Java also needs memory outside its heap. If an error says native memory allocation failed, leave more memory available to the system and check that virtual memory is enabled.

Server maintenance

Check announcements before changing your installation. An unavailable status readout is not proof of an outage. Wait for a maintenance update or ask for help in the community channel.

Choose your first adventure.

Your first launch opens an expansive NeoForge adventure with over 400 integrated mods. Start with what draws you in: exploration, decoration, magic or Create engineering. You can discover another path tomorrow without leaving today’s achievements behind.

Make room for a long journey.

Mythforge combines ambitious content with careful performance tuning. Follow the memory and Java guidance above to give the pack a good start on your machine. The sandbox includes mod guides, while the custom tutorial and discovery quest system is still in development.
